Our friendly Learning Support team is committed to supporting all learners in a variety of ways with particular support for learners with disabilities or learning difficulties. Learner Services will advise you about availability of learning or other support services and college facilities. They will refer you to and make appointments for you with our Learning Support team or other specialist services.
IT Equipment Loaning & Access to Internet
We understand that not all learners have access to the equipment required for online learning. We have in a number of Chromebook computers and data dongles to boost internet access for our students to loan*.
If you are currently studying a course with us and are being held back by the lack of equipment or internet access please talk to your tutor.
If you would like to enrol on an online course but are worried you don鈥檛 have a computer or access to the internet, please contact our Learner Services team via the live chat function, e-mail or phone and they will be happy to help you.
* Please note that the loan of equipment is strictly at the discretion of the College and is mainly for those on a qualification course.
Learners with Disabilities and Learning Difficulties
Our friendly Additional Learning Support team is committed to supporting learners with disabilities or learning difficulties. They will advise you about availability of learning or other support services and college facilities and will make appointments for you to discuss your needs.
Additional Learning Support (ALS) may include:
- Access: We try to make classes and activities accessible to all learners who inform us of access needs; we will do our best to accommodate them through reasonable adjustments.
- Dyslexia support: Learners assessed as dyslexic may be helped to achieve via one to one sessions with a specialist support tutor.
- In-class support: This is made available to learners who require help with learning to achieve and complete courses successfully.
- Out of class support: This is available in small groups, workshops or one to one basis, depending on learners鈥� needs and the resources available.
Disability Support
If you have a disability, we will aim to meet your individual needs. Our Disability Officer works closely with the Additional Learning Support team and teachers in the College, to support you, and your course teacher, to ensure you complete and achieve your learning goals by reducing barriers to learning.
Disability support available:
- Pre-enrolment tour of the building to familiarise yourself with our facilities. This will help you to decide if the College is suitable for you.
- Support with access to and from the building and classrooms including use of stair lifts.
- Assistive equipment and resources including Hearing Loops, dyslexia aids, aids for visual impairment.
- Access arrangements for exams
- Both our Crowndale Road and Kentish Town sites are older buildings. Crowndale Road dates from the early 1900s and is a listed building. This means that some of our rooms will be difficult to access if you have mobility issues. If you are a wheelchair user or have disability related to your mobility, please check with us before enrolling so that we can make sure you can access the classroom or studio in your chosen subject. Contact Learner Services team and they will arrange for you to speak with our Disability Officer.
Assessing and Meeting your Needs
Our Additional Learning Support (ALS) team will arrange an interview for you to share and discuss your needs. We will confirm with you the support we are able to provide to help you succeed on your course and make the most of your time at the college.

Notifying us of your Needs
You can do this while you enrol or after you join your class. Please inform your teacher or a member of the Learning Support team at the College or on 020 7255 4752. Alternatively, email learnerservices@wmcollege.ac.uk and they will pass on your request.
Please note 鈥� Learning Support is not available on all courses because of the way they are funded. Funds for Learning Support are also limited, therefore all support provided is subject to availability of resources and to the application of our priorities for supporting learners.
