Have fun and learn drawing techniques exploring line, tone, form, and the versatility of a range of materials including charcoal, pencils, watercolours, ink and pastels. Learn about artists and their process, still life, portraits, and landscapes. You will learn about perspective, composition and colour while creating a fabulous sketchbook. You will take inspiration from natural forms including flowers, fruit, bulbs and full plant specimens. You will develop technical skills in drawing, painting, colour mixing and tonal judgement and explore formal and informal ways to interpret the natural world thorough different media. Sessions may include activities using drawing, watercolour, acrylic painting, printmaking and ink as well as demonstrations and presentations by the tutor.

On this course, you will learn how to develop your own art projects in response to those set by the teacher, or your own project idea. You will collect visual references and ideas, develop projects from these and find ways of working with guidance from the teacher and in discussion with peers. We will discuss how to use galleries and museums to inform your work and how to resolve, select, present and document your work for progression or for your own development.

This fun, informal, and supportive, course is for absolute beginners or returners to art, to explore the visual world by beginning to develop drawing & painting skills through a variety of quick fire and longer exercises. Using a variety of media including pencil, biro, charcoal and paints, you will be encouraged to develop ideas within your sketchbook.

On this short course, you will be introduced to lots of fun and accessible ways to use drawing, painting and mixed media to create a diverse range of imagery. You will explore a wide range of media including watercolour and acrylic paints, paper collage, pastels, charcoal, pencil and inks. Each week, you briefly explore the work of established artists as inspiration. On this course, you will be introduced to a range of drawing skills and painting techniques. This course will give you an opportunity to explore a range of drawing and painting media. You will practice techniques in the studio and further explore ways to develop your drawings and paintings into personal projects, using a variety of approaches. You will also be shown examples of relevant artists work to inspire and support your learning.

This course will give you a range of techniques and skills to extend your drawing skills. You will be shown a range of techniques to enable you to develop your own ideas and flourish as a creative person. Sessions are focused on drawing activities that are varied and interesting and designed to stretch, challenge and build your confidence in drawing. There will also be the opportunity to draw in one of central London’s museums most terms.

Working with models, you will be introduced to various drawing and painting methods for portraiture. This is a great class for those new to portraiture who would like a step-by-step introduction as well as more experienced artists who would like to develop their work. We begin with 5 weeks of portrait drawing techniques relating to a different artist each week followed by 5 weeks of portrait painting techniques, after half term.
